What are Facilitator Guides?
Facilitator Guides are tools that help Interactive Journaling® facilitators support clients in their journeys toward positive change. They are structured to make curriculum implementation straightforward for facilitators and engaging for clients. Facilitator Guides bring confidence and structure to curriculum delivery, enabling providers to implement curricula in one-to-one or group settings.
The Change Companies’ Facilitator Guides include the following components:
Introduction |
Includes a summary of the curriculum’s goals and step-by-step guidance on how to use the Facilitator Guide |
Foundation Review |
Provides an overview of the curriculum’s evidence-based underpinnings with recommendations for further reading |
Facilitation Review |
Provides best practices on topics like preparing for sessions, building a therapeutic alliance, addressing literacy concerns and more |
Session Structure |
Includes recommendations for structuring a session to review, explore and reinforce important curriculum topics |
Journal Contents |
Provides page-by-page guidance on curriculum implementation, including discussion prompts, skill-building activities, out-of-session activities and content summaries |
Facilitators can review the Guides prior to each session, paying particular attention to the Journal content pages to be covered that day. Remember that Facilitator Guides are not meant to supplant your knowledge; rather, they are meant to support you in creating person-centered programs that address the risks and needs of each participant.
Accordingly, The Change Companies’ Facilitator Guides allow room for the facilitator to inject their own wisdom, ideas and personality into client interactions. We recommend taking notes in your Facilitator Guide to personalize each session to the unique needs of your clients.
